TV problem

Today I noticed my sons tv was acting different when you first cut it on.
about 30 seconds after i cut it on, the screen will get a little darker then back brighter, like a flicker in rytham of about .5 seconds. after about 3 minutes it smoothes out with a uniform contrast..Its a 50'' mitsubishi DLP.
I purchased the 4 year extended plan, so its covered..From what ive read, the DLP"s are known to need bulb replacement. Its about a year old. Im thinking it might need new bulbs. Any input would help, Thanx..

My Brother had the same Problem with his Toshiba 61" DLP and it was the bulb he phoned Toshiba and they told him the buldb wasn't covered under warranty they wanted a 150.00 for a new bulb , so he contacted the Brick were he bought it and they had Toshiba send him 2 new bulbs for free it was only about a month old when the bulb went , but you could be alright with the extended warranty my brother never bought the extended warranty good luck
