My Brother had the same Problem with his Toshiba 61" DLP and it was the bulb he phoned Toshiba and they told him the buldb wasn't covered under warranty they wanted a 150.00 for a new bulb , so he contacted the Brick were he bought it and they had Toshiba send him 2 new bulbs for free it was only about a month old when the bulb went , but you could be alright with the extended warranty my brother never bought the extended warranty good luck
