I thought of compiling a list of security tools in one thread so everyone can look it up. I will try my best to post the best combination (firewall, anti-virus, anti-malware, others.) You can help me out by posting what works best for you.

Note: It is important that you don't have TWO of a kind installed, for example, installing two anti-virus programs sounds secure but in reality it will just be counter productive. *Uninstall* all other anti-virus programs and just keep *1*.
Note2: Not all programs are free but most do have trials and others have free home versions.*

I have set up my PC as a dual boot (two separate hard drives), one with Windows XP Pro using a USR 56k Voice Host int Modem and the other O/S Ubuntu 9.04. Ubuntu will not recognize the existing USR Modem so I purchased a USR56K USB V.92 Modem which apparently is recognizable to Ubuntu. Can I leave the existing internal modem as is and install the USB Modem as well. The plan is to allow the Windows O/S use the existing Modem (as it works well) and the Ubuntu O/S use the new Modem. Unfortunately the only service I have is Dial-up.

There is a local company that offers Wi-Fi in my area. They come out and install an antenna on the house and plugs into the WAN port of my wireless router to give you access to Wi-Fi, the service tech said they use have T1, so a would assume I would only be limited by the speed of my router.
The Cost is $40 installation and $20 a month, with a 30 day money back guarantee on both.
So They are coming out today to install it. Has anyone ever used this type of service?

Thanks

This news is courtesy of appleinsider.com. May be this is a good news for Verizon users.

A new report citing sources in the Taiwan handset supply chain says Apple has contracted to produce a UMTS/CDMA hybrid iPhone due in the third quarter of next year that will enable the company to sell a single global handset to all carriers, and specifically to Verizon Wireless in the US.

The report by OTR Global, provided to AppleInsider by an industry analyst, says the new "worldmode" iPhone will gain compatibility with CDMA2000 networks (including Verizon's US network, which is currently incompatible with existing iPhone models) while retaining compatibility with UMTS 3G networks globally using a new hybrid chip produced by Qualcomm.

According to OTR's sources, Asustek subsidiary Pegatron will build the new hybrid phone devices for Apple rather than Hon Hai, the iPhone's current manufacturer. This decision was reportedly made to prevent the company from being "constrained by a single-source assembler."
